INNOVATION AND FLEXIBILITI IN TREATMENT HDF PANEL SURFACES

Thanks to its use of automation, Remo Cucine cuts down machining times and offers final products of high quality and, most importantly, environmentally friendly, using non-toxic glues and water-based paints.

Remo Cucine, which is based in Torrebelvicino, province of Vicenza, successfully combines traditional artisan know-how with technological innovation. It is considered a highly-advanced subcontractor and its excellent products and service are the undeniable sources of its success. The entrepreneurial intelligence of Donatella and Alberto Dalla Via, and their ability to look forward, led them to decide to switch from manual production to automation, cutting down processing times and, especially, offering finished products of higher quality. The company processes HDF panels destined mainly for display cabinets in optical stores and pharmacies.

The growing demand, together with the need to promptly and fully meet clients’ requests, especially those coming from architects who are always seeking distinct chromatic solutions, led Remo Cucine to install in its plant an automated robotic system for the application of water-based glues and paints on its HDF panels.

The new automated system was designed and manufactured by Superfici of Monza (SCM Group). “We used to apply glue and paint by hand only, which required a lot of time and produced inconsistent results, though still acceptable of course,” says Alberto Dalla Via, the company co-owner. “But with the arrival of large orders, we had to innovate. We could no longer afford to have panels that varied according to the people who had worked on them. This was the main problem we felt we had to solve, along with the issue of production times.”

“We work with HDF panels,” explains our guide. “We apply a first layer of glue, which dries in half an hour at room temperature, and then lay a sheet of melamine in various colours. If the order requires a particular colour that is not available in PVC, we use a white melamine sheet which we later paint with the required colour. Panels for office furniture and shop furnishings get painted with a final transparent scratchproof top coat.”

The production chain, entirely internal, combines the traditional artisan precepts with latest-generation technology, making the company a kind of industrialised carpentry shop.
Operating out of two production plants, Remo Cucine uses the most advanced woodworking machines, including an edgebander, a press and a brushing machine.
