The 9th annual International Mass Timber Conference is coming up and SCM and Randek are ready to join all the innovators, disruptors and forward-thinkers who want to promote a greater use of mass timber in the sector.

AREA XL: State-of-the-art technology for large-format CLT panels
AREA XL is a 5-axis CNC machining center designed for the industrial production of large-format CLT panels. With a 63 kW (85 hp) high-power operating unit, it ensures high productivity and precision, handling panels up to 52.49 x 11.81 x 1.31 feet. The system offers advanced automation, an optional second operating unit for parallel machining, and up to 60 tool stations, including sawblades. Its automated handling and cleaning systems enhance operator efficiency, while the fully enclosed work area with laser barriers guarantees maximum safety.
OIKOS XL+: Precision and power for sustainable construction
OIKOS XL+ is a cutting-edge CNC machining center for the production of structural beams and columns with a maximum cross-section of 4.10 x 2.00 feet. This advanced solution features a second independent machining unit with a 3.77 feet diameter saw blade, significantly improving processing speed and quality. Designed to meet the growing demand for multi-storey wooden buildings, OIKOS XL+ can process heavy-duty elements up to 4 tons, ensuring maximum flexibility and precision thanks to the 6-axis main machining head unit..
SCM's 2025 innovations for timber construction
SCM introduces new timber construction solutions, including CELASCHI XL double-end profiling machine and new OIKOS CNC machining centers:
- CELASCHI XL optimizes production flow, redistributing machining operations on CLT panels from the CNC machining center to the profiling machine, in order to enhance productivity and precision in rebating and squaring.
- OIKOS XS 650 boosts efficiency and flexibility for solid wood and glulam beam processing, handling cross-sections up to 2.13 × 1.02 feet—ideal for roofs, trusses, and prefabricated walls.
- OIKOS X4, 6-axis CNC machining center, designed for rapid and precise processing of camber beams up to 4.10 feet × 0.98 feet, reducing material waste by up to 10%.
Maestro lab beam&wall: Next-gen software for CNC machining centers
SCM enhances its OIKOS and AREA models with Maestro lab beam&wall, the updated programming software developed on the new SCM Maestro lab CAD/CAM.
Fully integrated with the HMI Maestro active beam&wall, it allows programming both from an office PC and directly on the machine, improving flexibility and productivity.
Additionally, these CNC machining centers are equipped with Maestro connect, SCM’s IoT platform for real-time monitoring performances of connected machines.
DMC SYSTEM XL: Built bigger to work harder
DMC SYSTEM XL is a high-performance automatic sanding-calibrating machine designed for timber construction. It processes CLT panels up to 12.14 feet wide and 1.64 feet thick, with a modular structure that supports top and bottom sanding in a single pass. The machine offers zero-vibration precision, easy maintenance, and energy-saving features to optimize compressed air consumption.
